Marine Grade Materials
GRP (Glass Reinforced Plastic)
The gold standard for marine applications. GRP is:
- Completely corrosion-proof
- Unaffected by salt water
- UV stable with proper resin
- Extremely slip-resistant when wet
- Low maintenance
316 Marine Grade Stainless Steel
For a metallic look, 316 stainless (marine grade) resists salt corrosion far better than standard stainless or aluminium. Higher cost but very durable.
Anodised Aluminium
A budget option for less severe marine environments. The anodised layer provides some protection, but lifespan will be shorter than GRP.

High Visibility for Safety
Marine stairs often serve as emergency escape routes. High-visibility yellow GRP nosings with photoluminescent strips ensure safety even in low light or power failure conditions.
Fixing in Marine Environments
Use stainless steel (A4 grade) fixings only. Standard zinc-plated screws will rust within months. For GRP nosings, countersunk stainless screws or structural marine adhesive work best.
