Flexible rubber and PVC stair nosings bend to follow the step, which makes them the practical answer on older, uneven or slightly curved staircases where a rigid aluminium profile would rock or leave gaps. They also feel softer underfoot and are quieter in use than metal, a real advantage in flats, care homes and hotels.

The material itself provides the grip: moulded grooves and ribs across the tread surface give slip resistance without a separate insert, and the whole profile is a single hard-wearing piece with nothing to come loose. PVC compounds used here are impact resistant, easy to clean and free from harmful plasticisers.

Profiles come in bullnose and angle-edge shapes across a range of sizes, in colours that either blend with the floor or contrast strongly with it. Contrasting options help meet Approved Document K and BS 8300 guidance on making each step edge visible.
