Aluminium Door Thresholds

An aluminium door threshold does more than tidy a doorway. It covers and protects the exposed cut edges of both floor coverings, removes the small step that trips people and catches wheels, and takes the concentrated wear that doorways always see.

Which profile you need depends on the floors either side. Flat bars suit joins where both floors finish level. T-bars drop a stem into the expansion gap between two hard floors such as laminate and tile. Wide bars cover ragged or oversized gaps left by a retrofit. Ramped profiles taper between floors of different heights, which is what Approved Document M expects on accessible routes.

Anodised aluminium is the right material here because it resists the scuffing and corrosion that a doorway inflicts, and the anodised colour is part of the metal rather than a coating that wears through.
