Description

Single-channel rubber cable cover, cut to the length you need

A one-channel moulded rubber floor cable cover for running a single power or data cable safely across a walkway. Sold per metre, so you order only the length the run actually needs. The sloped side edges let foot traffic, wheelchairs, sack trucks and pallet trucks cross without catching, and the moulded top grooves keep the surface underfoot rather than slick.

Supplied in black with yellow for visibility. Suitable for internal and external use.

Why buyers choose it

  • Buy by the metre — no paying for a fixed 9m roll when the run is 3m.
  • No fixings required — cut the channel open, lay the cable in, put it down. No drilling, no ground bolts, nothing to make good afterwards.
  • Two channel sizes — standard for typical extension and data leads, Large for thicker power cable.
  • Sloped, tapered edges reduce the trip risk a bare cable creates.
  • Indoor or outdoor, and light enough to lift and relocate as layouts change.

Typical applications

  • Warehouse and workshop walkways where a cable has to cross a traffic route
  • Offices, receptions and meeting rooms — temporary power and network runs
  • Exhibitions, conferences and event build-ups
  • Retail and hospitality floors during fit-out or seasonal trading
  • Outdoor site power runs and temporary lighting feeds

Construction

Moulded rubber body with a single enclosed cable channel and contrasting yellow for visibility. The channel is supplied closed and is opened with a knife along its length so the cable can be seated. The profile tapers to the floor on both sides.

Installation

Lay the cover along the intended route. Cut the channel open along its length with a sharp knife, seat the cable inside, and set the cover down over the run. No drilling, adhesive or ground bolts are needed, so it can be lifted and relocated as the layout changes.

Maintenance

Sweep or mop the top surface to clear grit and spills. Lift periodically to check the cable beneath for wear, particularly on outdoor or long-term installations.

Suitability and limitations

Designed for pedestrian and wheeled traffic — foot traffic, wheelchairs, dollies, sack trucks and pallet trucks. No load rating is published for this product and it is not described as vehicle-rated. Where cars, vans or HGVs will cross the run, specify a rigid vehicle-rated cable protector ramp instead.

Overall width, height and channel dimensions are not published for this line. An equivalent single-channel cover from another UK supplier is published at 71mm wide x 13mm high with a 15 x 5mm channel, which gives a rough idea of scale, but we cannot confirm the two are identical. If your cable diameter is anywhere near marginal, ask us to check the standard and Large channel before you order.

One supplier describes the rubber as fire and oil resistant. We could not corroborate that with a second source, so we are not claiming it here. No slip-resistance classification (R-rating or PTV), fire-performance class or UV-resistance figure is published for this product, and none is claimed.
