Description
A wet or newly cleaned floor causes one of the most common workplace accidents, and a folding A-frame warning sign is the fastest way to flag the hazard before someone finds it the hard way. Moulded from heavy-duty polypropylene, this sign stands up on its own, folds flat for storage, and is printed both sides so the warning reads clearly from either direction.
Each sign is built as a single hinged unit that opens into a stable A-frame and closes flat for a mop trolley, van or cupboard. The high-impact yellow polypropylene resists cracking from knocks and repeated folding, and the bold black pictogram and text are printed on both faces so approaching pedestrians see the warning whichever way they walk. A cut-out carry handle at the top makes it quick to move between areas as a job progresses. Three messages cover the most common day-to-day hazards: wet floors, slippery surfaces, and short-term works in progress.
Why it works
- Two-sided printing – the warning is visible to pedestrians approaching from either direction
- Folds flat for storage – takes up minimal space on a trolley, in a van or in a cupboard between uses
- Heavy-duty polypropylene – resists cracking and impact from repeated daily folding and knocks
- Built-in carry handle – quick to lift and reposition as cleaning or works progress
- Three message options – covers wet floors, slippery surfaces and short-term work areas
Where it's used
These signs are a fixture in retail units, offices, schools, hospitals, warehouses and hospitality venues wherever a floor is mopped, a spill occurs, or short-term works create a temporary hazard. Cleaning contractors, facilities teams and site staff use them to demonstrate a clear, visible warning has been put in place, supporting day-to-day compliance with general workplace slip and trip guidance.
Specifications
| Material | Heavy-duty polypropylene |
| Dimensions | 300mm wide x 620mm high |
| Printing | Printed both sides |
| Colour | Yellow with black pictogram and text |
| Fixing | Free-standing, self-supporting A-frame |
| Messages available | Wet Floor, Slippery Surface, Men at Work |
Choosing the right message: use the Wet Floor sign immediately after mopping or where a spill has occurred, the Slippery Surface sign for surfaces that are hazardous for reasons other than standing water, such as polish, ice or a worn floor finish, and the Men at Work sign to flag short-term works, deliveries or maintenance activity that pedestrians need to walk around.
Installation, use and care
Open the sign fully so both legs lock flat and the sign stands securely, and position it so it is visible to pedestrians approaching from the main direction of travel. Move the sign to follow the hazard as cleaning or works progress, and remove it once the hazard has cleared so it does not become an ignored fixture. Wipe down with a damp cloth and mild detergent, and fold flat for storage between uses.
