Description

Extinguishers left on an open bracket in a yard get rained on, knocked by pallets and quietly go missing. This double fire extinguisher cabinet houses two 9kg or 9 litre extinguishers in a weatherproof moulded ABS shell, keeping them dry, protected and visible at the fire point. An internal clamp system grips both units so they stay put on a rough site, and the door opens straight out in an emergency. It is built for harsh working conditions rather than a clean corridor, which is why it ends up on sites, yards and loading bays.

Why it works

The shell is moulded ABS rather than folded steel. ABS takes knocks and bumps without denting, and with no paint film and no ferrous metal in the body there is nothing to chip and nothing to rust outdoors. The supplier states the cabinet is made to be weatherproof, so extinguishers stay dry through a British winter rather than sitting behind a corroding label and a seized pin.

Inside, a clamp system holds each extinguisher instead of relying on a loose shelf. That matters where the cabinet gets slammed shut and knocked in passing: clamped extinguishers do not slide, tip or foul the door. Two horizontal viewing apertures let you confirm both units are present without unlatching anything on a wet morning.

The internal space is 700mm high, 530mm wide and 229mm deep, which takes two full-size 9kg powder or 9 litre water and foam extinguishers side by side. The one exception the supplier calls out is the 5kg CO2, which does not fit.

  • Holds two extinguishers – a pair of 9kg or 9 litre units side by side at a single fire point.
  • Moulded ABS shell – shrugs off knocks and bumps, with nothing to dent, chip or rust outdoors.
  • Weatherproof construction – keeps rain off gauges, hoses and labels so the equipment stays serviceable.
  • Internal clamp system – grips both bodies so they cannot slide or tip when the door is shut hard.
  • Twin viewing apertures – check both units are in place without opening the cabinet.

Where it's used

Construction sites and welfare cabins, where the fire point sits outdoors for the length of the build. Builders' yards, timber yards and skip hire depots. Farms, grain stores and equestrian yards. Loading bays, service yards and external plant rooms. Marinas, caravan parks and campsites. Anywhere a fire point has to live outside and still work at two in the morning in the rain.

Choosing the right option

This is the double cabinet, sized for two extinguishers at one fire point. Most UK fire points pair a water or foam extinguisher with a CO2 or powder unit, and that pairing is what this size is built around, so one cabinet covers the point instead of two singles side by side.

Two checks before you order. Measure your extinguishers first: the internal space is 700 x 530 x 229mm and suits 9kg or 9 litre bodies, but the supplier specifically excludes the 5kg CO2, which will not fit. Second, if you only ever site one extinguisher at a point, a single cabinet is smaller and cheaper; the double earns its place where two different extinguishing media sit together. Only the double is offered here, in one specification, so there is nothing to select at checkout.

Installation, use and care

Site the cabinet at the fire point, at a height where a full extinguisher lifts out without stooping, and keep the approach clear. Fixings and fixing centres are not published for this line, so specify anchors to suit your substrate; steel cladding, blockwork and timber cabin walls all want different fixings. Load the heavier extinguisher first, close the clamps onto each body and check the door shuts fully. Wash the shell down with mild detergent and water, keeping solvents away from the moulding, and check the contents on your monthly fire equipment inspection.

Frequently asked questions

Will it take a 5kg CO2 extinguisher? No. The supplier specifically excludes the 5kg CO2 from this cabinet. It is sized for bodies up to 9kg or 9 litres, and the 5kg CO2 will not fit inside.

Can it be used outdoors? Yes. The cabinet is made to be weatherproof and is intended for indoor or outdoor use, which is the main reason it gets specified for site and yard fire points.

Does it lock? A lock is not published for this line. If you need a secured fire point, confirm the arrangement with us before ordering rather than assuming one is fitted.

Are extinguishers included? No. You are buying the cabinet only. Extinguishers, brackets and fire point signage are ordered separately.
