Description
An exposed scaffold pole, low-level pipe or handrail at head height is a genuine injury risk on any site, and this foam pipe and scaffold pole protector cushions the impact before it happens. It slides straight over standard scaffold tube and pipework, is pre-slit for fast fitting, and comes in high-visibility colours so the hazard is seen as well as padded.
Each length is a heavy-duty, high-density foam sleeve, pre-slit along its length so it can be opened out and pushed directly onto a scaffold tube, pipe or handrail without dismantling the structure. Once fitted it is secured with cable ties through the pre-formed slit. Beyond its main use protecting ground-level scaffold supports, the same foam sleeve is equally suited to padding pipes, poles and handrails wherever people could otherwise knock into an unprotected edge.
Why it works
- Pre-slit for fast fitting – opens out and pushes straight onto standard scaffold tube without dismantling anything
- High-density foam – absorbs impact from knocks and reduces the risk of injury
- High-visibility colours – the hazard is seen as well as cushioned
- 2 metre lengths – covers a full section of pole or pipe from one length
- Three colours and two pack sizes – yellow, blue or red, in packs of 5 or 10 lengths
Where it's used
This foam protector is standard equipment on scaffolding at ground level where the public or site workers pass close by, and is equally useful on construction sites, warehouses, workshops, schools, gyms and gardens for padding exposed pipes, poles, handrails and trampoline frames. Anywhere a rigid tube or edge sits at a height where someone could walk or fall into it, this foam sleeve reduces the risk of injury.
Specifications
| Material | High-density foam, pre-slit |
| Length | 2 metres per piece |
| Colours available | Yellow, Blue, Red |
| Pack sizes available | Pack of 5, Pack of 10 |
| Fixing | Slides over tube or pipe, secured with cable ties (not included) |
| Use | Scaffold tube, pipes, poles and handrails |
Choosing the right colour and pack size: yellow is the standard high-visibility choice for scaffold and site use, while blue and red suit colour-coded hazard marking or simply matching existing site colours. Choose the pack of 5 for smaller jobs or a single scaffold lift, and the pack of 10 where multiple poles, a full scaffold level, or several separate hazards need covering.
Installation, use and care
Open the foam along its pre-slit seam and push it fully onto the scaffold tube, pipe or pole so the full 2 metre length sits over the hazard area. Secure at intervals with cable ties through the slit to stop the foam sliding or working loose. Check periodically for splits or compression and replace any length that no longer grips or cushions effectively.
Frequently asked questions
What tube diameter does this fit?
It is sized for standard 48.3mm scaffold tube and similarly sized pipework; check your pole diameter before ordering for a non-standard application.
Are cable ties included?
No, cable ties are not included and should be sourced separately to secure the foam in place.
Can this be used outdoors long-term?
Yes, it is weatherproof foam suitable for ongoing outdoor use on scaffolding and exposed pipework.
