Installation Instructions

1. Surface preparation — clean the step edge thoroughly; remove all grease, dust, old adhesive and loose material. Patch repair any damaged areas. Surface must be dry.
2. Dry fit — lay the nosing in position before applying any adhesive to confirm fit and positioning.
3. Cut to length — use a jigsaw with a tungsten carbide blade or angle grinder with diamond disc. Work in a ventilated area and wear PPE (dust mask, eye protection).
4. Apply adhesive — run a 6mm bead of FlexyFix adhesive 25mm from each edge and in a zigzag pattern across the centre at 200mm intervals.
5. Mechanical fixing (recommended for high traffic) — drill fixing holes 70mm from front edge and 60mm from back edge, spaced every 600mm. Use stainless steel fixings.
6. Press firmly — seat the nosing into position, pressing along the full length. Apply additional pressure with a rubber roller if available.
7. Seal screw holes — apply a small bead of sealant into each fixing hole for a watertight finish.
8. Cure time — allow adhesive to fully cure per manufacturer guidance before opening to foot traffic.

Maintenance

GRP stair nosings are virtually maintenance-free. In outdoor settings, rainfall naturally self-cleans the gritty surface. For indoor use, occasional brushing or a mild detergent wash with a stiff brush restores appearance. Do not use alkaline-based cleaners or solvents. Damaged sections can be replaced individually without disrupting adjacent nosings.
