Description

Heavy Duty Anti-Fatigue Rubber Mat

Standing at a workbench, packing station or production line for a full shift takes a real toll on legs, feet and lower back, and bare concrete or vinyl underfoot does nothing to soften that load. This heavy duty anti-fatigue rubber mat gives workers a cushioned, slip-resistant standing surface that meaningfully reduces the strain of prolonged standing, backed by fire testing to BS EN 13501-1. Built from dense, closed-cell rubber with a textured pebble finish, it stays stable underfoot even when the surrounding floor is damp or oily. Four sizes and an optional high-visibility yellow safety border mean it fits everything from a single workbench to a full production line aisle.

Why it works

The mat's cushioned rubber surface introduces subtle, continuous micro-movements in the calf and foot muscles that a hard floor cannot. Those small adjustments keep blood circulating through the lower legs, which is the physiological mechanism behind the fatigue reduction anti-fatigue matting is specified for under HSE manual handling guidance. Beneath the surface, a closed-cell rubber core resists permanent compression, so the mat keeps its cushioning long after a thin foam mat would have flattened out. The textured pebble finish keeps grip underfoot even where the surrounding floor picks up oil, grease or water, and the bevelled edge on every side removes the trip hazard a square-edged mat would create at a walkway.

  • Fatigue relief – cushioned rubber core prevents the static muscle strain that causes end-of-shift leg and back pain
  • Fire safety certified – tested to BS EN 13501-1 Class Dfl-s1, suitable for specification in factories and warehouses
  • Stays put underfoot – dense rubber construction and bevelled edges keep the mat stable and trip-free without adhesive
  • Oil and grease resistant – textured surface keeps its grip even where the surrounding floor is contaminated
  • Hi-vis option available – yellow safety border version marks out the workstation zone for compliance walk-rounds

Where it's used

This matting is specified at production line positions, packing and inspection stations, workbenches, machine operator positions and quality control desks across factories and warehouses. Outside heavy industry, it suits retail checkouts, pharmacy dispensing counters, commercial kitchen prep areas and standing desks in offices, anywhere someone is on their feet in the same spot for hours at a time. The hi-vis bordered version is popular wherever a workstation zone needs to be visually marked out for a safety walk-round or visitor route.

Choosing the right size

For a single workbench, packing station or till point, the 600 x 900mm mat covers the area one person needs to stand and turn comfortably. For a longer production line position, or where two people work side by side, step up to the 900 x 1500mm size. Where you need to cover a full run of workstations or a long inspection line without joins between mats, order the 900mm x 18.3m roll and cut it to length on site, or specify the 900mm Linear Metre option to buy the precise length you need without ordering a full roll. Choose plain black for general workshop and back-of-house use, or black with yellow border anywhere the workstation zone itself needs to be visually obvious, such as public-facing counters or areas included on a visitor safety walk-round.

Installation, use and care

The mat is designed to be loose laid directly onto a clean, dry, flat floor with no adhesive needed for most workshop and factory applications. For permanent installations in high-traffic areas, a compatible flooring adhesive can be used to stop the mat creeping under repeated foot traffic. Sweep or vacuum regularly to keep grit from grinding into the surface, and clean with a mild detergent and a hose or mop; avoid pressure washers above 60psi and strong solvents or caustic cleaners, which can degrade the rubber surface over time.

Frequently asked questions

Does this mat need adhesive? No. It is designed to be loose laid on a flat, clean floor. Adhesive is only recommended for permanent installations in very high-traffic areas.

Is it suitable for wet or oily floors? Yes. The textured pebble surface is designed to retain slip resistance even where the surrounding floor is damp, wet or lightly contaminated with oil or grease.

Can I cut the roll or linear metre option to length? Yes, using a sharp utility knife and a straight edge.

Will the colour vary between orders? Rubber is a natural material and shade can vary slightly between production batches. This does not affect performance.
