Description

A DDA compliant rake back stair nosing in mill finish aluminium, with a wide anti-slip PVC insert bonded permanently into the tread. The 67mm tread and 55mm riser drop give the step edge clear visual definition, and the riser leg rakes back at 83° so the nosing follows the pitch of the stair rather than projecting into the walkway.

Fits over an existing floor

The back edge of the tread tapers to a shallow ramp that finishes flush against the floor covering. That is what allows this profile to be installed after the floor has been laid — so it suits refurbishment and retrofit work on existing stairs as readily as new installations. It can be fitted over lino, vinyl, laminate, tile and stone, or directly onto a bare substrate where no covering is planned.

Slip resistance and visibility

The PVC insert provides the slip resistance underfoot, and its colour provides the contrast. Building Regulations Approved Document K and the Equality Act 2010 both call for a step edge that can be clearly distinguished from the tread and riser, which is why the insert is offered in eight shades — a light insert reads against a dark floor, a dark insert against a light one.

Fixing

Supplied pre-drilled with countersunk holes and pips that conceal the screw heads once fixed, for a clean finish with no exposed fasteners. Mechanically fixed through the tread with appropriate screws and plugs for the substrate.
