Match the chock to the heaviest vehicle you will actually chock, not the lightest. For a car, small van or caravan, WC01 or WC02 is plenty and the pair keeps a set matched. WC16 gives the same 4 tonne rating in a low, compact wedge that is easier to store in a car boot. Once you are into panel vans, horseboxes or light HGVs, step up to WC03 or WC11. WC12 is the one to specify for full-size HGVs, plant trailers or aircraft ground handling, where a single oversized chock does the work of a pair on lighter vehicles. If you are chocking an axle rather than a single wheel, buy two chocks so you can block the wheel on both sides.

Installation, use and care

Apply the handbrake first, then place the chock hard against the tyre tread on the downhill side of the wheel, pushing it in until the tread grips the rubber.
