Description
Filling and emptying a mop bucket at a hand basin wastes time, soaks the floor and puts dirty water where staff wash their hands. A wall mounted stainless steel cleaners bucket sink solves that in one fitting: a deep 217mm bowl at working height, a removable wire grating strong enough to take a loaded bucket, and a 38mm flush grated waste that clears silty water without blocking. Specifying a cleaners cupboard for a school, office or warehouse? This is the fixture that makes the room work.
Why it works
The bowl is pressed from stainless steel and carries a wide rolled rim, so there is no folded seam to trap dirt and nothing to corrode when the sink stands wet all day. At 455mm wide by 340mm front to back it takes a standard commercial mop bucket over the grating rather than balanced on the edge, and the 217mm depth gives enough freeboard to tip a full bucket out without slopping over the front.
The removable stainless bucket grating earns its keep. It spans the bowl mouth and holds the bucket clear of the waste while the tap runs, then lifts straight out for cleaning underneath — the usual failure point in a cleaners cupboard is a fixed grid that cannot be washed. The 38mm flush grated waste sits level with the bowl base so nothing dams behind it, and the separate 257mm splashback protects the wall finish behind the taps from the splash of a filling bucket.
Because the unit is wall mounted on the supplied brackets, the floor underneath stays clear. You can mop under it, park a wringer trolley beneath it, and there is no plinth for dirty water to sit against.
Where it's used
This is a trade fixture rather than a domestic one. It suits janitorial and cleaners' cupboards in schools, colleges, offices, hospitals, care homes, leisure centres, factories and distribution warehouses, plus plant rooms, kennels and sports pavilions. Facilities managers, M&E contractors and school business managers specify sinks of this type when a washroom basin is being misused for mop filling.

Is this the right sink for your site?
There is one size and one specification, so the decision is about the cupboard rather than the sink. Measure the clear wall width first: at 455mm wide the unit needs a solid run of wall plus working room either side, and it must be fixed into masonry or a properly noggined stud, never plasterboard alone. Set the rim at a height that suits your operatives and still clears a wringer trolley underneath. Then confirm your water supply, because that decides the accessories: cross head or 6 inch lever bib taps for a concealed supply, or wall plate elbows where the pipework is exposed. Add a bottle trap to suit the waste run. If you need a larger bowl or a floor standing unit, a different cleaners sink suits better.
Installation, use and care
Fitting is a plumber's job of an hour or two. Set the height, mark and fix the supplied brackets into a sound substrate, hang the sink and check it sits level front to back so the bowl drains fully. Fit the splashback tight to the wall, connect the 38mm waste to your trap and run the taps to check for leaks before handing over. In use, keep the grating in place while filling and lift it out weekly to clean beneath. Wipe the steel down with a mild detergent and a soft cloth; avoid abrasive pads, bleach left standing and acidic descalers, all of which mark stainless.
Frequently asked questions
Are taps included? No. The sink is supplied with the bucket grating, the 38mm flush grated waste and wall brackets. Bib taps, wall plate elbows and the bottle trap are separate items, which lets you match the fitting to whether your supply is concealed or exposed.
Will a standard mop bucket fit? Yes. The 455mm by 340mm bowl mouth takes a typical commercial mop bucket resting on the grating, and the 217mm depth lets you empty a full bucket without it overflowing the front rim.
Can it be fitted to a stud wall? Only where the studwork is noggined and lined to carry the sink plus a full bucket of water. On plasterboard alone it will pull out, so masonry or a purpose built support is the safer route.
Is it suitable for a domestic utility room? It will work, but it is built for commercial janitorial use, so the finish and proportions are functional rather than decorative.
