Description
A steel traffic bollard earns its keep the moment a reversing van or forklift clips a doorway, and this surface-mount bollard is built to take that impact and keep standing. Supplied in six diameter and finish combinations from 60mm to 90mm, it bolts straight down onto concrete or tarmac to protect entrances, corners, racking and pedestrian routes from vehicle damage.
Each bollard is fabricated from thick-wall steel tube, finished in either hot-dip galvanising alone or galvanising with a red and white powder-coated topcoat for high visibility. A welded baseplate with four fixing holes bolts directly to a hard surface without the groundworks a root-fixed bollard needs. Diameters run from a compact 60mm tube up to a heavy-duty 90mm tube, with a 70x70mm box-section option also available, so the bollard can be matched to the level of impact protection required.
Why it works
- Thick-wall steel tube – absorbs vehicle impact without buckling or failing
- Surface-mount baseplate – bolts to concrete or tarmac with no groundworks needed
- Galvanised finish – protects against rust and weathering outdoors year-round
- Red and white powder-coat option – gives high-visibility hazard marking in low light
- Six size and finish combinations – matched to light, medium or heavy-duty protection needs
Where it's used
These bollards are specified outside warehouse and retail entrances, at the corners of buildings and loading bays, alongside pedestrian walkways, around fuel pumps and plant, and anywhere a vehicle could otherwise clip a wall, doorway or piece of equipment. The powder-coated finish is the common choice wherever the bollard itself needs to be seen as a warning, while plain galvanised bollards suit locations where a more discreet, functional barrier is preferred.
Specifications
| Material | Steel tube (round or box-section), welded steel baseplate |
| Diameters available | 60mm, 76mm, 90mm round tube; 70x70mm box-section |
| Finishes available | Hot-dip galvanised; galvanised with red/white powder-coat |
| Fixing | Surface-mount baseplate, four-hole bolt-down fixing |
| Use | Outdoor and indoor vehicle impact protection |
Choosing the right diameter and finish: the 60mm bollard suits lighter-duty pedestrian and low-speed car park protection; the 76mm bollard is a good general-purpose choice for warehouse and loading bay entrances; the 90mm and 70x70mm box-section options are suited to higher-speed areas or where heavier vehicles and forklifts operate. Choose the red and white powder-coated finish wherever the bollard needs to act as a visible warning as well as a physical barrier, and plain hot-dip galvanised where a lower-profile, unpainted finish is preferred.
Installation, use and care
Mark and drill four fixing holes to match the baseplate using suitable anchor bolts for the diameter and expected impact loading, then bolt the bollard down onto a flat, level concrete or tarmac surface. Check bolts periodically and re-tighten if the bollard has taken a significant impact. Wash the powder-coated finish with water and a mild detergent to keep it looking sharp, and touch up any chips in the coating promptly to prevent rust taking hold underneath.
Frequently asked questions
Can this bollard be removed or does it stay fixed?
This is a fixed, bolt-down bollard rather than a removable or fold-down type; it is designed as a permanent impact barrier.
Do I need to concrete the base in?
No, the surface-mount baseplate bolts directly onto an existing hard surface, so no groundworks or concreting in is required.
Which finish should I choose?
Choose the red and white powder-coated finish for high-visibility warning locations, or plain hot-dip galvanised for a more discreet, functional barrier.
