Description
On a deep going, one stripe of grip is not enough. This 90mm aluminium nosing carries two insert channels across the tread, so the foot lands on an anti-slip band wherever it falls rather than on bare metal between a single insert and the step edge. At 5mm gauge it is built for stairs that take real traffic.
Why two channels
A 90mm tread plate with a single 37mm insert leaves a wide strip of plain aluminium. On a busy public stair that strip is exactly where a hurried foot lands. Two bands close that gap and also give a much stronger visual reading of the step edge, which is what accessibility guidance is usually after when it asks for a contrasting nose.
The shallow nose is deliberate
The front face drops only 32mm, so the profile suits stairs where a deep riser cover would foul a skirting, a stringer detail or an existing trim. Where the riser is damaged and needs covering, a deeper-nosed profile is the better answer.

Choosing the right option
Insert. Castellated PVC is the commercial workhorse. Olympic Grip is the coarse gritted band for entrances where footwear arrives wet. Smooth textured is a styling choice for dry interiors. The aluminium infills give a monolithic metal look. Those slip figures are for the insert material, not a finished installation, but they are the right basis for comparing options.
Length. Order the bar that covers your going in one piece. If your treads are an awkward width, or every flight differs, order from the cut-to-size version of this profile, cut to the millimetre between 700mm and 3200mm.
Installation, use and care
The substrate must be sound, clean, dry and flat; make good a worn arris first or the nose will bridge a hollow. Fix at roughly 250-300mm centres, starting about 50mm from each end. Do not overtighten on a polished bar, which will mark. Clean with a damp cloth and neutral detergent; abrasive pads and solvents dull an anodised surface.
