This 55mm bullnose aluminium stair nosing is a single-channel profile engineered to protect and define the leading edge of interior stair treads. Supplied in three stock lengths — 2.44m, 2.75m, and 3.22m — it can be cut to size on site for a precise fit on both new-build staircases and refurbishment projects. The profile has a tread width of 55mm, a riser height of 37mm, and a gauge (material thickness) of 3.5mm. It is supplied in stock lengths of 2.44m (2440mm), 2.75m (2750mm), and 3.22m (3220mm), all of which can be cut to size on site.
Can this nosing be used outdoors?
This profile is designed and recommended for indoor stair applications only. While the PVC inserts carry an exterior grip rating — indicating a high level of slip resistance — the overall profile specification is optimised for internal environments. For outdoor staircases, a profile specifically rated for exterior use is recommended.
How is this stair nosing installed?
The nosing is fixed using a concealed screw-fix method. The aluminium carrier is secured directly to the stair tread through pre-drilled countersunk holes, and the PVC insert is then pressed into the channel to conceal the fixings. Fixings are not included and should be selected to suit the substrate. The profile can be cut to the required length using a standard metal-cutting saw.
Which floor coverings is this nosing compatible with?
This single-channel, 3.5mm gauge profile is designed for use with vinyl, lino, and lightweight carpet floor coverings. The 3.5mm gauge accommodates thinner floor finishes and ensures a flush, secure fit at the stair edge. It is not recommended for use with thicker or heavy-pile carpet.
