This single-channel aluminium stair nosing is a precision-engineered edge-protection profile designed to define, protect, and visually highlight the leading edge of interior stair treads. Key Features & Benefits
- Extruded aluminium construction — resistant to impact, heavy foot traffic, and everyday wear on busy staircases
- Rake-back underside profile ensures a flush, secure fit against the vertical riser face of the step
- Single-channel design accepts a 3.5 mm PVC insert — correctly gauged for vinyl, lino, and lightweight carpet installations
- Slip-resistant PVC insert provides a tactile, high-grip surface at the most vulnerable point of each step
- Interchangeable insert — the PVC can be replaced independently when worn, extending the service life of the aluminium base profile
- 15 insert colours available, including high-visibility Hazard and Yellow options for compliance with safety and accessibility guidelines
- 6 aluminium finishes available — from understated Mill Finish to premium Mirrorflect Gold — to suit any interior specification
- 2.44 m (2440 mm) stock length — a standard architectural length that minimises waste and simplifies installation on most stair widths
- Suitable for commercial offices, retail environments, public buildings, schools, healthcare facilities, and residential properties
- Clean, low-profile design that protects floor coverings at the step edge and reduces trip hazards without visual intrusion
Ideal Applications
| Setting | Why It Works |
|---|---|
| Commercial offices | Durable aluminium withstands high daily footfall; premium finishes maintain a professional appearance |
| Retail & hospitality | Wide colour range allows coordination with brand palettes and interior design schemes |
| Public sector & education | High-visibility insert colours support accessibility requirements and step-edge demarcation |
| Healthcare facilities | Smooth, cleanable aluminium surface; replaceable insert reduces long-term maintenance costs |
| Residential staircases | Neat, low-profile finish suits both contemporary and traditional interiors; easy DIY installation |
| Refurbishment projects | Standard 2.44 m length cuts cleanly to width; rake-back profile suits existing square-edge steps |
Installation Note: This nosing is designed for surface fixing to the step tread front. The rake-back underside profile sits flush against the riser face. Fix through the aluminium base using appropriate screws for your substrate, then press the PVC insert into the channel. Cut to length using a fine-tooth metal saw or mitre saw. Always wear appropriate PPE when cutting aluminium profiles.
