This 100mm x 20mm flexible PVC sit-on skirting board is a premium, hygienic angle profile designed to create a seamless, watertight transition between floor and wall. Unlike set-in skirting, this sit-on profile is applied directly on top of the finished floor surface using a suitable contact adhesive (sold separately). This flexible sit-on PVC skirting is widely specified across commercial and institutional projects. Its smooth, non-porous surface makes it ideal for NHS hospitals and healthcare facilities, where stringent infection control and easy cleaning are required. It is equally suited to school corridors and classrooms, food production and commercial kitchen areas, laboratories and cleanrooms, retail and leisure environments and light industrial premises where wall bases are exposed to impact from machinery, trolleys or cleaning equipment.
The sit-on installation method makes it an excellent choice for renovation and refurbishment projects, as the skirting can be fitted over the top of newly laid or existing floor coverings without disrupting the floor finish itself.
Installing this flexible PVC sit-on skirting is straightforward and requires no specialist tools. Clean and dry both the wall surface and the back of the skirting profile thoroughly before beginning. Apply a generous, even bead of appropriate contact adhesive to the back of the profile and the corresponding wall area, following the adhesive manufacturer's instructions. Press the profile firmly into position, ensuring the horizontal leg sits flush and flat on the floor surface. Use a rubber mallet or roller to consolidate the bond. Trim to length using a fine-tooth saw or sharp utility knife.
Note: Adhesive is not included and must be purchased separately. Always ensure surfaces are clean, dry and free from dust, grease or loose material before installation.
What is the difference between sit-on and set-in skirting?
Set-in skirting is installed during the flooring process with the floor laid under the skirting cove. Sit-on skirting is applied on top of the completed floor finish — ideal for retrofit or situations where disrupting the floor is not practical.
Can this skirting be used on curved walls?
Yes. The flexible PVC material allows the profile to follow gentle curves and minor wall undulations, making it far more adaptable than rigid alternatives.
Is adhesive included?
No. A suitable contact adhesive must be purchased separately. We recommend using a solvent-free contact adhesive compatible with flexible PVC.
Can I use this skirting in wet areas?
Yes. The flexible PVC material is moisture-resistant, making it suitable for wet rooms, wash-down areas, commercial kitchens and similar damp environments, provided the adhesive used is also water-resistant.
Which colour should I choose?
Black is popular in high-traffic environments as it disguises scuffs and marks effectively. Dolphin Grey offers a softer, more contemporary look and pairs well with lighter floor colours.
