Why it works
A recess sized for 5mm vinyl
Behind the bead the profile forms a 5mm-deep recess, so a 5mm plank drops in and finishes flush with the top of the nosing. There is no lip to catch a toe and no sunken edge for the vinyl to wear against. The flange carries fine ribs that give adhesive or a click plank's underside something to bed onto.
Everything but the bead is hidden
This is a hidden-fix profile. The screws go through the flange before the tread plank is laid, and when the riser is clad in the same vinyl its top edge tucks up under the bead, covering the 28mm leg. There are no screw heads on show and no wide face plate, just a slim rounded edge in the colour you choose.
Anodised aluminium, not painted
Aluminium keeps the profile light and easy to cut on site. Anodising builds the colour into the surface of the metal instead of coating it, so Black, Gold, Silver and Champagne resist day-to-day scuffing from shoes and vacuum heads far better than a painted trim. It's still a surface finish: a heavy knock from a tool or a dropped weight will mark it.

Where it's used
The typical job is a domestic staircase being re-clad in click vinyl, treads and risers together. It's also used on single steps into kitchens, extensions and sunken lounges, on split-level landings, and on communal stairs in flats and small offices where the floor is 5mm LVT. It's an interior profile, so it isn't suitable for external steps or areas that are regularly wet.
Choosing the right option
Check your plank thickness first. This profile is made for 5mm floors. A 4mm plank sits below the bead and a 6mm plank stands proud, and on a stair edge both are a trip hazard. Measure the plank itself, without any separate underlay.
Then choose a length. Measure the finished nosing length needed for every step before choosing a stock length. Choose 900mm only where that supplied length covers the required piece. A 2700mm length can be cut into shorter pieces, but plan the cuts first and allow for the material removed by the blade and any end trimming. Do not assume one 2700mm length will provide three finished 900mm pieces. The number of steps covered depends on your measurements and cutting plan.
Then choose a colour. Silver and Champagne blend into grey and whitewashed oaks. Black gives a crisp, visible edge on light floors, which helps people see each step. Gold suits warm honey and mid-brown oaks.
Installation, use and care
Cut each piece to the tread width with a fine-tooth hacksaw or a mitre saw with a non-ferrous blade, then file off the burr. Sit the nosing on the bare step so the flange lies flat on the tread and the leg is tight against the riser. Drill through the flange, plug the tread and screw down; on timber treads you can screw straight in. Next, lay or glue the tread plank into the recess so it butts up to the back of the bead. Finally, fit the riser plank so its top edge tucks under the bead and hides the leg. Clean with a damp cloth and mild detergent. Don't use abrasive pads or solvents.
Frequently asked questions
Yes. The recess is 5mm deep whichever way the plank is fixed. On stairs most fitters bond the tread plank down even when it is a click product, because a floating plank on a step edge can move. Follow the flooring manufacturer's instructions for stairs.
No. The screws go through the 42mm flange before the tread plank is laid, so the plank covers them. When the riser is clad in vinyl too, the 28mm leg is hidden behind it, and the only visible part is the 7mm rounded bead.
It still fits. The leg sits flat against the painted riser under the bead, so you will see a thin 28mm strip of the same colour down the top of the riser. Cladding the riser in the same vinyl hides it completely.
Yes. Each length comes with 4 screws and 4 wall plugs. On timber treads you can screw straight into the wood without the plugs.
It has no anti-slip insert, and the manufacturer publishes no slip rating for this line. For stairs that need a contrasting, slip-resistant edge, choose one of our insert nosings instead.
Ordering and delivery
Choose a length and a finish, then set Quantity to the number of stock lengths you need—not automatically the number of steps. Where one 900mm stock length supplies the required piece for each of ten steps, select 900mm, choose the finish and enter Quantity 10. For 2700mm lengths, calculate the number of stock lengths from your cutting plan. Add different lengths or finishes as separate basket lines and check the options, quantities and total before checkout.
2.7m lengths travel as a long parcel, so make sure there's access for it at the delivery address. If you're unsure whether your floor is 5mm, send us the plank specification before you order and we'll confirm the right nosing.

Needed something to give our office stairway a tidy finish and this trim worked wonders without breaking the bank. Dodging chipped edges in a bustling workplace was getting old, but theyve held up beautifully under constant foot traffic. Overall, its provided that professional touch we were after at such a reasonable cost!

Came quickly and was surprisingly secure in its box. Fitted them along our restaurant’s outdoor steps, and I’m quite impressed with how the aluminium stair nosing is holding up. Gets a bit slippery when wet but this ones got just the right grip to reassure guests as they wander in.

Took a punt on this because the stairs were crying out for some attention, and I have to say, the packaging was spot on! Straight out of the box, everything felt premium and there wasnt a scratch in sight. Popped them down over our click vinyl edges, making the staircase safe as houses without any fuss. Cheers to sturdy stair nosing that doesnt just sit pretty but actually fits the bill!

Installed it on the stairs of a busy exhibition space and after several months, its been brilliant. The aluminium trim was a doddle to fit neatly with the vinyl planks, and Im genuinely impressed by how well its held up despite constant foot traffic. No signs of wear or lifting edges—a solid choice for anyone needing reliable edge protection.

Got this for sprucing up our shop steps, and its exactly whats needed. The stair nosing provides a sleek finish that gives the stairs a professional look, much cleaner than I envisioned. Installation was straightforward, and it blends seamlessly with the tiles to add that extra touch of class in a busy retail environment.

Solid construction makes this stair edging a standout piece. I cut it with ease using basic home tools; it bends and wears so much better than wooden trims around high-traffic areas like the entryway staircase in my flat. This aluminium stair nosing is right up to handling daily footfall without showing wear.
