Description

A heavier solid brass nosing with a choice of three inserts, for stairs that want the weight and finish of brass with grip chosen to suit the traffic.

Three inserts, three jobs

Ridged brass keeps insert and carrier the same metal, so the nosing ages as one piece. The choice where appearance leads on a dry internal stair.

Ridged PVC gives more grip than brass ribs plus a contrasting colour against the metal. It is the softest of the three and burnishes over years of heavy use.

CarbiGrip is aluminium oxide grit in resin: the hardest option, the one for entrances and anywhere footwear arrives wet. It neither polishes smooth nor peels.

Where it is used

Hotel and civic staircases, listed buildings, entrance steps and refurbishment work where an aluminium nosing would look out of place. Brass does not dent under trolley wheels the way a thin-walled aluminium extrusion can, and an antique finish deepens with handling rather than scuffing back to a different colour underneath.

Choosing the right option

Insert. Wet or busy entrance, choose CarbiGrip. Dry internal stair where appearance leads, choose ridged brass. Between the two, choose ridged PVC.

Finish. Satin brushed is contemporary and forgiving of fingerprints; antique brass reads traditional; antique bronze is darkest.

Length. Order the bar that covers your going in one piece, or use the cut-to-size version for anything between 250mm and 2750mm, including the 2.75 m length.

Installation, use and care

Brass is heavy; support long lengths while fixing. The substrate must be sound, clean and dry. Fix at roughly 250-300mm centres with brass screws so the heads match. Clean with a soft cloth and warm water; avoid abrasive creams and acidic cleaners.

At this price, sprucing up the marble steps at my office with these beauties felt like a steal! I was chuffed to see how seamlessly they slipped alongside our existing floor covering. Its been a breeze keeping everything in top shape, and boy do they handle all the hustling about during office hours. Though theyre just tiny details against a grander design, it’s often the little things that make a big impact!

Works a treat in high-footfall areas. Installed this onto the subway steps due to its reliable grip and heft, and it’s clear to see how the stair nosing really holds up under consistent use compared to cheaper alternatives. Definitely worth investing if you want durability without compromising on style.

Had to sort out something fittingly elegant for our hotel lobby, and these golden edges were spot on. The durability under frequent guest traffic has been brilliant, while the brass maintains its charm without clashing with the polished wood. It balances luxury with practicality so nicely that Id gladly go for this choice again if Im ever working in a similar space.

Was a bit unsure at first, but the delivery was prompt and the packaging neat yet robust. Once I got the brass inserts open, they immediately impressed with their luster and weight. Using it to kit out a set of well-trodden stairs in our B&B, the stair nosing looked stunning surrounded by rustic charm and offered such a sturdy feel underfoot. Happy with how it blends into its new home, itll surely weather many seasons ahead without hassle.

Got this stair nosing for a safer subway entrance and the moment it came out of the box, I was struck by its rich brass finish. You can immediately tell it adds a solid touch of class to the stairs. The detail on the ridges really catches your eye in that gentle morning light, making the steps look inviting despite their busy usage throughout the day.

Installed it on the stone steps of our local courthouse last autumn. The solid brass with its antislip strip turned out better than anticipated. Over several months, its taken a beating from weather and constant foot traffic but shows barely any wear – truly ages like a fine wine alongside the historic architecture.

Piece of cake fitting this stair nosing! The solid brass was surprisingly easy to cut down to the exact length I needed for our museum’s outdoor steps, thanks to its well-thought-out design. It slotted into place beautifully, keeping things looking historic yet secure even as the weather changes and leaves start gathering around.
