Stair treads are rarely a round number. This is the same stainless steel flat plate insert as our 1m, 1.5m and 2m stock lengths, cut here to the exact millimetre you specify between 250mm and 2800mm, tolerance plus or minus 5mm.
A plain stainless steel bar, bedded into a routed groove in a stair tread or landing so the top face sits flush with the surface. Stainless is the specification where the insert has to stay bright in a wet or chemically aggressive environment, or where the building finish calls for steel rather than aluminium. Set several in parallel and the ribbed effect adds useful grip underfoot.
Three bar sizes are stocked. The 12mm x 5mm section is the one to choose where trolley wheels, cleaning machinery or heavy footfall will work on the insert over time.
Stainless is significantly harder to cut cleanly on site than aluminium, and an out-of-square end shows badly when the insert is flush with a stone tread. Cutting in a workshop gives clean, deburred ends that butt neatly against the going.

Measure each tread individually and take 3mm to 5mm off a wall-to-wall measurement so the bar drops in without scraping. Rout the groove slightly deeper than the bar so adhesive can key beneath it, and set the insert back at least 15mm from the front arris. Custom lengths are made to your figures, so they are non-returnable except for faults.
Cut lengths are made to order; allow additional working days over a stock length. Standard UK mainland delivery is a flat rate. Mill and satin finishes are confirmed with your order.
