A carpet door bar holds the cut edge of a carpet down at a doorway and finishes it against whatever floor lies beyond. Without one the pile frays back, the edge curls, and what starts as an untidy detail becomes something people catch their feet on.

Z-profile bars are the most secure option: the carpet edge is tucked into a channel and held under tension, giving a clean, permanent line with no visible cut. Gripper bars use angled pins that bite into the carpet backing, which is faster to fit and easier to lift later. Dual-edge bars handle carpet meeting carpet, useful between rooms with different carpets or along hotel and office corridors.

Profile depth should suit your pile height and underlay build-up so the finished surface sits flush rather than proud. Deeper channels take domestic pile with underlay; slimmer bars suit contract carpet and carpet tiles.
