Adjustable thresholds solve the awkward case where two floors meet at different heights. Rather than forcing a fixed profile to bridge a mismatch it was never designed for, an adjustable bar lets you set the exact height and angle of the transition on site.

The profile usually consists of a base track fixed to the subfloor and a top cap that clips or screws into it at the required height. Because the cap can be set at a range of positions, one product covers a span of height differences, which is useful on refurbishments where you do not know the exact build-up until the old floor comes up.

A gentle taper matters for more than tidiness. Approved Document M sets expectations for accessible routes, and a properly ramped transition means wheelchairs, walking frames and trolleys cross the doorway without catching or jolting.
