Single-Zone Remote Dimmer and Controller for LED Stair Lighting, Natural White

This single-zone remote dimmer and controller puts the lighting on a lit staircase in your hand. Point it at the stairs to switch on, dim, and, depending on the version, warm or cool the white light or change its colour. It is made in three matching versions: natural white for our natural white tape, tunable white and RGB for our tunable white and RGB tape. Each one controls a single lighting area and is powered by the remote-ready 12V LED driver, with the tape plugging into the controller's four ports. It completes a remote-controlled staircase built with our light-down LED tile-in stair nosing.

Why it works

Control without rewiring

A wall switch can only turn lights on and off. With a remote you can set the brightness for the time of day, leave a low glow on at night, or turn the staircase up for guests, all without extra switches or cables in the wall. The remote has a simple slider and a power button, so anyone in the house can use it.

Matched to the tape

Each version is matched to one type of tape. The natural white version dims fixed white light. The tunable white version moves the light between warm and cool white. The RGB version changes colour and brightness. Choosing the matching version means every function of the tape is available from the remote.

Single zone means one remote controls one lighting area, which suits most staircases. The controller has four ports for tape leads. For larger projects, our multi-zone receivers and multi-zone remote control up to four separate areas.

Choosing the right option

Choose the version that matches your tape. Natural white tape needs the natural white remote, tunable white tape needs the tunable white remote, and RGB tape needs the RGB remote; a mismatched remote will not give you every function of the tape. Then check the number of tape runs. The controller has four ports, so one controller suits up to four reels of tape. For more steps, or to control two flights separately, use the multi-zone remote with a multi-zone receiver for each area, which handles up to four areas from one remote. Finally, make sure you order the remote-ready driver, because the standard on-off driver will not work with a remote.

Installation, use and care

The controller sits between the remote-ready driver and the tape. Mount it close to the driver in a dry, accessible position, connect it to the driver's 12V output, plug the tape leads into its ports and pair the remote following the instructions supplied. The mains side of the driver must be installed by a qualified electrician. Keep the remote somewhere easy to find, and clean it with a dry cloth.
